On Sunday, 8 club members cycled what Ted calls the Upper Eden Valley road bike loop, in Cumbria, in north west England - exactly 70 miles in length with 1,474 m / 4,835 feet of total ascent.
Today 30/06, 3 groups of riders rode MTB, road bike and ebikes to meet up at The Battlesteads, Wark for cake and coffee / tea to celebrate Angus Liddle’s pending 50th birthday.
Set in the North East of England, this was a second evening of wonderful weather which 3 of us took advantage of on Thursday 27/06 – Tim on his MTB and Ruth on her hybrid e-bike roadster not at all ideal for some sections on this loop.
Only occasionally do I get the opportunity to lead the near perfect ride on almost perfect ground conditions in perfect weather with 5 fit but imperfect companions all a decade + past 50.
On Saturday, 4 of us rode the Helworth & Swaledale loop mostly in dry weather, but finishing in light rain. At 40 km long and a total of 1,134m of ascent, this route was a cracker with many climbs and some fine descents, including one of the best in the UK.
Just 3 of us enjoyed a fabulous 2.25 hour loop in the evening sun on Tuesday on dry ground. It turned quite chilly in the second hour. It was the same route a different 4 of us rode last Tuesday evening so some pics are similar to those taken at that time.
