Cycling Tynedale series of Gravel Bike events 2021 / 2022: Your Questions Answered
This is a new series of monthly Day Bike Ride Events most of which are of 45 km /55 km distance (each loop has a shorter option) departing different locations in Northumberland on the third Sunday of most months. Each route will be as much off-road as possible with some sections of minor road.
The Berwick Beamer
Due to Covid restrictions, nearly all rides in 2020 were restricted to 6 riders. In September such a group rode the Berwick Beamer loop which gets its name because it starts at Berwick upon Tweed and during, and at the end of the ride, you have a big beam on your face.
West of Alnwick and the coast
This is one of a number of great road routes we rode in groups of 6 in 2020, so good we rode it again a few weeks later. We cycled to, and down, the coast almost to Warkworth before heading inland to the eastern edge of the Cheviot Hill.
The Land of Oak & Iron loop
On Saturday 19th December 2020, club ride leader Graham Patton led a small group of us on what Ted now calls The Land of Oak & Iron loop.
